Physical Therapy
Physical therapy looks at the science of movement, how our muscles move our body, and how abnormal muscle activity may lead to movement disorders or developmental delays.
Physical therapists address disorders and delays that affect gross motor movement. They also treat orthopedic impairments such as fractures, dislocations, muscle strains, and ligament sprains.
Our physical therapists have passed a National Examination and are licensed in the state of South Carolina. We have physical therapists trained in aquatic therapy, orthopedic problems including neck/back pain and fractures, and TAPE Program.
If your child is not meeting developmental milestones for gross motor skills, he/she may benefit from a Physical Therapy evaluation. We currently have immediate openings for physical therapy evaluations and treatments. To schedule an appointment, please call either our Spartanburg clinic at 864-595-4225 or our Greenville clinic 864-627-0009.
Specialty Programs
Aquatic Therapy
An exercise program that is performed in the water. It uses the physical properties of water to assist in healing and exercise performance.
TAPE (Torticollis and Plagiocephaly Evaluation) Program
A program for babies with a diagnosis of Infant Torticollis and/or Plagiocephaly that uses a combination of measuring the baby's head, direct therapy, a home program for stretching and positioning , and when needed a consultation and treatment by an orthotist for a helmet to reshape the head.
Biodex FreeStep Supported Ambulation System
This harness system allows patients and therapists to work on walking over the ground and on the treadmill safely. It allows the therapist to assist in movement patterns instead of supporting. It also takes away the fear of falling for patients so that they can focus fully on the task at hand. Balance activities can be targeted safely using this system as well.
NDT (Neuro-Developmental Therapy)
A specialized treatment approach to help children with motor coordination problems. It is a program that inhibits abnormal movement so that normal patterns of movement can be facilitated.
Lite Gait
A gait training device that simultaneously controls weight bearing, posture, and balance over a treadmill or over ground.
Kinesiology Taping
A therapeutic taping method that is used to change muscle tone, move lymphatic fluids, correct movement patterns, and/or improve posture.
Myofascial Release (MFR)
MFR is a gentle hands on technique that releases the fascia. Fascia is a 3-D connective tissue that runs head to toe without interruption. It surrounds all parts of our body, muscle, bone, nerves, organs, blood vessels, down to the cellular level. Who would benefit? Everyone! Spasms/spasticity, restricted range of motion, neurological dysfunction, back pain, cervical pain, chronic pain, head trauma, fibromyalgia, headaches, cerebral palsy, CVA, etc.
Astronaut Training
A program that integrates the auditory, visual, and vestibular systems. It creates opportunities for an adaptive response to sensory input which completes the sensorimotor neurological circuits underlying all function.
