Magic Tracks RC

When we say that Magic Tracks RC are a favorite around here, we really mean it! They get requested by both boys and girls. It consists of up to 10 feet of tracks that can be assembled in many shapes/sizes and, to make them even more interesting, they glow in the dark. On top of that, the car that is placed on the tracks is remote controlled and has the option of having or not having sounds and/or lights. This set is intended for ages 3 and up. Here are a few ideas for use at home:

Speech & Language:  Since the pieces of the track come in multiple colors, your child can practice their colors and/or following directions with them. You can also target spatial concepts by building the track so that it goes under, around, over things and then talk about where the car is as it is going. It may be beneficial to your child for you to practice the therapeutic technique of 'withholding' by placing the tracks in a container and having them request 'more' or any other word or target sound that they are working on in speech therapy. Your child can even practice their problem-solving skills by figuring out how to build their tracks so that it goes up, criss cross, or anything else that they can imagine.

Fine Motor/Visual Motor: Your child can practice their hand manipulation and visual motor coordination by fitting the track pieces together into whatever shape they can imagine. They can also work on crossing midline by having to reach across their body to pick up the pieces of the track - you will just need to make sure to guide them by either holding or placing the tracks on the opposite side of their body. Finger isolation can also be worked on by pushing the buttons on the remote control to make the car go or stop.

Sensory: Take your Magic Tracks outside and have your child play with them in the grass. If they can tolerate it, they can even be barefoot in the grass. Outside is a whole sensory experience because of the varying temperatures, insects, and even the unpredictable sounds.

Gross Motor: Magic Tracks can be easily used in any obstacle course, with scooter board activities, or while laying on their stomach on the floor. They can also collect the pieces to the track while doing their PT exercises/stretches.

Magic Tracks RC can be purchased through our Therapy Shop here: Magic Tracks RC.
